OK, I know this isn't rocket science, but sometimes when people show me something, verses tell me something, I'm much more likely to do it.
Are some of you the same way? :)
Also, if you go the Scentsy Forum and poke around you can see other incarnations of this same concept - Search 'Pouch Parties' and you'll get a bunch of good stuff for el cheap-o, too!
Back-story...in my previous business, I did not have much luck with basket parties. Just showing the catalog didn't 'compell' most people to buy jewelry, and I was always a little paranoid sending out my inventory so folks could see the bling in real life. Sending out 20-30 'sample' pieces of jewelry could cost me $400-$500 if something happened to it.
So when I heard about doing Scentsy basket parties, the idea didn't hold much intrigue for me.
That is, until Nique and I went to the Scentsy convention in Denver this past summer.
On the shuttle bus to our hotel we met these fun guys and began talking to them. They were doing BIG biz down in Florida and we were asking them to share - of course they did, telling us their biggest income stream came from doing 'tote-bag' parties. The one guy said they have 20 (yes, TWENTY) tote bags full of Scentsy goodness out at all times! After picking their brains a bit, we then go to the convention and Orville introduces the mini-testers!!! These two events planted the seeds I needed to get going on growing this idea!
When we got home from Scentsy convention, I made up just TWO basket parties and have had them in rotation for the last 3 months. My monthly sales really increased with just 2 of these puppies out!
My goal for January was to put 3 more into rotation for a total of 5, and I can already tell that I could profit from having 10, so TEN is my new goal for February! :)
I bought another mini-tester set (to add to the free one we got at convention) and was using those scents, but have come to the conclusion that 80 scents are just too many for most people to choose from. So YAY, this means you don't have to buy a $25 mini-tester set for each basket party. For a while I just split up my tester sets and put about 40-50 in each basket, but I always felt like some weren't getting my favorites and that was still too many to go through.
scent. This costs us $45 for 30 scents (about $9 for each set of 30 favorites). How we picked our top 30? We each made a separate list of our top 30 and then meshed the two lists. You could also use the list Scentsy puts in every Consultant Spotlight, or you could pick a few favorites from each category.
I think that if you pick the scents YOU LOVE the most, then you will be more excited about your baskets and 'sell' them better, yes? Just make sure you have a VARIETY of the best scents!
So here is the way I've been putting together my basket parties for the last few months.
The ones at Target I showed on Friday's post have all 3 bins the same size, but this one has a shorter bin on the top. I like it because it holds 30 scents perfectly.
In the middle container I put all the ordering supplies:
- 3 catalogs
- 8 order forms with a Basket Party Cheat Sheet attached Download Basket Party Cheat Sheet
- Campus Collection flyer
- 'Join' brochure
The order forms get attached to the Basket Party Cheat Sheet after I print it on colored cardstock (so it will be sturdy), cut it down to the same size as the order forms (just about half as long), punch holes in everything, and put a book ring through it to hold it.
Then I fill the bottom bin with the following items:
- a bar
- a room spray
- a travel tin (unpackaged so they can see how it slides and smells)
- a scent circle (packaged, it is WAY too strong to unwrap)
- a fragrance foam (it almost doesn't fit)
- a spare lightbulb (only if I'm sending a Demo-warmer out with the basket. I explain that the demo-warmers get knocked around a bit and if the light bulb goes out I don't want to be making an extra trip to replace it).
Behold the contents of all 3 bins:
And voila! Isn't she beautiful?
If you want, you can print up these fun little tags:
Attach with a ribbon, sit them next to your check out at your Open House and I can almost guarantee you will not see that baby again until she comes home a week later full of orders!!!
Of course, it's perfectly ok to MAKE USE OF WHAT YOU HAVE already sitting around. In the beginning I used anything and everything to get my scents and catalogs our there.
This is just the evolution of my basket parties into something I'm entirely proud of pulling out with the expectation that OF COURSE YOU WILL WANT TO TAKE THIS TO WORK WITH YOU :)
I hope this helps you get where you want to be with your basket parties!
