She's beautiful...talented...FUNNY...and she is also the mom to a beautiful son who happens to have autism...
For lots of reasons I've always admired Jenny McCarthy.
I stalk follow her on twitter and yesterday she posted this article being uncomfortable and doing it anyway.

Since I've been such a homebody for the last few years, taking care of my mom and 3 teens, I KNEW that in order for me to grow my business, I would have to embrace becoming a NETWORKER.
When you have exactly 3 friends and one of them is already your Scentsy business partner, it is SUPER important to FIND SOME NEW FRIENDS, DAMMIT.
Getting out and getting into some networking groups is MY UNCOMFORTABLE.
Hate it. Had bad experiences with it in the past. VOWED that if I had to be THAT PERSON to grow my business, it wasn't gonna happen.
But you know what? I wanted to find a WAY to make this work for me because I knew that it was hands-down the quickest, most effective means to meeting like-minded people - and by like-minded I mean people out there trying to build a business, find success, help others, and not be sitting home watching Judge Judy all day.
(I personally despise all the judge-y shows. DESPISE. My mom has them on her tv all day and I cringe everytime I hear ex spouses, friends, neighbors, etc. yelling and arguing with each other - ughhhh).
Nique had joined the Peoria Chamber of Commerce months ago. And while she had gone to a few events and had fun and even gotten some business out of them, networking meetings were her UNCOMFOTABLE too. Plus she's pretty busy with that day-job thing she has going :)
So earlier this month, there was a chamber gathering at a WINE STORE of all places. You'd think we'd be all over that....but no, Nique thought up a few excuses why we couldn't go (it's tooooo faarrrrr, don't you have to take your daughter somewhere?)
Long story short the two of us put on our big girl BOOTS (we both had killer black riding boots on) and headed up to that wine store (about 40 minutes away).
It ended up being the most fantastical networking group/meeting of all time. SERIOUSLY, the energy in that room was super and between the two of us (we sat on opposite ends of the table) we talked to each and every business owner.
That one meeting/good experience/making-the-uncomfortable-comfortable meeting was just what I needed to get me on the road to positive networking experiences.
We've both done a few other networking events this month and just because of that one step, we've now got 5 events/parties on our calendar for February (January we had ZIPPO, zilch, nada), with much much more on the horizon.
And, we've been out in the community helping with a chamber fundraiser, giving back to the community, which is always a plus! This weekend we were out begging complete strangers for donations - talk about getting used to rejection! We did get a couple yes's, though!
Thanks See's Candy!!!
Bottom line - it is a MUST that you learn how to 'Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable'. There are tons of resources out there to help you.
Nique is reading this right now and loving it!
