This is another super easy way to make samples. It doesn't make a ton of them at a time and it takes a little while with the melting and the freezing, but it is E.A.S.Y. P.E.A.S.Y. You could easily do them while you are watching your favorite soap opera doing other things.
Here's my hunk-a-hunk-a-burnin'-love brick of RIO BEACH.... oh, HEAVEN!
Seriously, this scent stirs something deep inside....back in 2006 we went to my favorite beach EVER, Turks Caicos....Rio Beach IS Turks Caicos in my world...
First, break off a cube.
Anybody struggle with getting that first cube out of a bar or a brick? One of our new team members, Bri, suggests keeping the bar/brick in the freezer and it stays fresher and is easier to break off. Definitely gonna try it! (I have Blueberry Cheesecake in my freezer now to try it!)
Then break out your candy mold. I got this one at Michaels in the cake/baking/candy making section. I think they are $1.99 or something cheap. You can even get them online for cheaper. You might even ALREADY HAVE ONE! You can get these in lots of different shapes, which is fun :) Mine is a pinwheel thing-y and it is pretty generic, which I like. Lot's of our team has stars - you know, like the Scentsy logo.
This one can make up to 18 pinwheels. I wasn't sure how many I could get out of one brick cube. What do you think? Come on...guess!
Waiting......
10?
15?
What do you think?
If you guessed 12, give yourself a....high five? pat on the back? bite of chocolate? shot of Patron? :)
By the way, I melted my cube in the microwave. I know, I know, .....Scentsy discourages us from melting the wax in the microwave....whatever. Just make sure you watch it like a hawk...I do it in 30 second increments
Carefully pour your slowly-melted wax into your mold.
Let it sit for 5-10 minutes so it will begin to harden up a little.
This will keep it from spilling when you put it in the freezer.
You don't want to spill a bunch of wax all over the freezer, a lthough, a little wax spill in the freezer is not hard to clean up because it hardens right up and you just pop it up (don't ask me how I know).
Now stick it in the freezer.
Let it stay in there for about the length of General Hospital an hour.
While you are watching General Hospital waiting for it to harden up, begin to prepare your organza bag containers.
DOH! I only have 9 organza bags left in my stash, so I have to use 3 star baggies for the rest of the samples.
**You can get your own stash of organza bags for super cheap at www.nilecorp.com
After General Hospital is over an hour, take your wax-y mold out of the freezer. It will be nice and frozen!
Pop out the wax ... if they are frozen enough they will pop out like buttah!
I make Purse Sachets, as well as, regular samples to give out.
Purse Sachets are given as FREE gifts with purchase, gifts for bringing a friend, gifts for previous clients I see while I'm out and about (ie: teachers at my daughters school).
Simple samples are given out to random people that might ask about Scentsy, or that I might strike up a conversation with somewhere, as well as people that stop by my booth at events, but don't buy.
Purse Sachets = special people
Samples = everyday people
So, I used to put all my samples in baggies,
then put the baggies in the organza bags,
then take the sample out of the baggy and back into the organza bag,
before giving it out....MAJOR PAIN.
Now I just make them up and stick them right in the organza bag, and put all the organza bags into a baggy in the freezer, to be taken out right before I need them.
Tomorrow I will take them out before my party and hand them directly to the people that brought friends and as a Free Gift with purchase, without having to remove the samples from the plastic baggies first! Much easier!
Whew! All that General Hospital watching sample making was hard work!
I didn't even have to get dressed up or put on makeup to watch General Hospital make samples !!!
So, have you made any cute samples lately? Please share any tips/tricks you have in the comments.
