First of all, let's give a big BLOGGY welcome to Katie Riedel!
I think she may be one of our first totally random, I-love-your-blog-s0-I'm-gonna-sign-up-under-you consultants, right Niq? And did I mention she's in MICHIGAN? And she's a young'un - geez, how many times have I wished I had started in this industry at a young age? Many.
She's been excited about becoming a new consultant for a few weeks, but had to sit on her hands and wait until Aug. 1 to sign up to get the great deal of both Spring/Summer stuff and new Fall/Winter stuff.
But it doesn't look like she was twiddling her thumbs during that wait period, because this girl has thought up some GREAT ideas!
She shared this with Nique and our Team Page on Facebook.
Hey ya'll- I just wanted to share a little idea. I'm a fan of guestbooks (I consider it a backup paper copy, plus it makes it easy to enter contacts into the workstation later) and I dislike generic stuff so I had an interesting little thought and figured I'd share. :)
Instead of a traditional guestbook I'm printing FREE (yep, FREE. Gotta love it!) business cards from vistaprint. They come in a bunch of different designs and I just cleared all of the info off and added fields for Name, Address, Phone, Email and Birthday. All the info I need and it's POCKET SIZED!
I may use them for a raffle, or just slip them into a plastic business card holder sheet and throw them in a pretty binder to use for a guestbook. Pretty versatile anyway. :)
Now, take a peek at what she's using, which she is getting FREE from Vista Print:
It is a classy way to get info and looks like you are super professional with your business.
I love the idea of starting a binder for the cards, too. It's a portable client list that won't crash on your hard drive :)
You could even do the Poem Game (see below) and have the people write their scores on the back, so you would know who is interested in having a party!
So THANK YOU so much for sharing a great idea, Katie, and for joining our team and immediately embracing one of Scentsy's Core Values: Give More Than You Take!
OK, so Jacquelyn Roy is a really nice SuperStar Director with Scentsy. If you haven't already, you should friend her on Facebook like I did!
She did a presentation at the convention on having Home Parties, telling us how much she LOVES doing them, even now that she is a SuperStar Director. She says they are the core of her success and she loves how she can get more bookings and recruits so easily at home parties. I coudln't agree more!!!
Anyway, she told us that even though she doesn't alwayls like to do "Games" per say at her parties, she does always do this numbers Poem. She says it gets people laughing and she has everyone's attention and uses it as a lead-in for her 8-10 minute 'presentation' on hosting and recruiting!
So let everyone get settled, pass out the pencil and paper and READ this ALOUD to your guests: (read it aloud to yourself right now so you can see how it flows and how fun it is!!!) (And if you read it with a sweet little Texas Twang, like Jacquelyn Roy, EVEN BETTER!)
Points Poem
I wonder who came here from afar,
Give yourself 5 if you came by car.
Were you on time?
Not a minute late?
Punctuality pays, so give yourself 8.
A necklace gives you 5, and earrings 3.
Glasses are 9 more when they are on you,
10 points more if your eyes are blue.
Score yourself 5 if you wear any pink,
But take away 10 if you left dishes in the sink.
Count all your buttons, each gives you 1,
Except if they’re white, and then you get none.
Each bow is 1 point, but safety pins are taboo,
So, for each one you’re wearing, take away 2.
So give yourself 10 if you’re wearing that kind.
Now here’s a chance to score you better:
Add 6 points if you’re wearing a sweater.
1 point for each year that you have been wed,
But take away 5 if your hair is red.
Now daughters are sweet, and on that we agree,
So, for each one you have, you may now add 3.
But when adding up points, boys are worth more,
So, for each one of your sons, go ahead and add 4.
If you kissed your husband or boyfriend today, add 12,
But into your personal life I must delve:
If you kissed them both, you must subtract 20,
Because you’re in trouble and trouble aplenty.
Now that’s all there is, so total your score,
Except if you’re a special friend, there’s more.
It’s a 50-point bonus for V.I.P.
If you’ll be a Host for Scentsy and me!
Isn't that fun?
And if you are into putting some more 'fun' into your home parties, you can go to the Resources Tab in your Scentsy Workstation and on the left click on the 'Party Tools' category, then click into the 'Library of Party Games'.
I'm not big into party games myself, but am definitely going to try this Points Poem as a way to get everyone laughing and to prepare them for my short presentation on bookings and recruiting!
TGIF!!!
Hugs,
Kelly
